Hi, My son has cavities from lip tie, which he fixed by falling himself. I need to address the cavities. He is currently gluten, dairy and sugar free. I have put him on the cavities remineralising diet now as well. I see he needs to be on fermented cod liver oil. He doesn't like fishy tastes. I am wondering would you think the butter fermented cod liver oil is the best option for him?I am thinking of making raw chocolates and putting it inside to get him to take it daily. As if I hide it in the smoothies I am not sure he's getting the full dosage and its rather expensive. Is there anything else you think he should be on or another option of cod liver oil that he may like better. I cant do the cinnamon option as my other son is allergic. He loves coconut oil and eats it raw on the spoon.

Hi Leela and thanks for your query.
The butter oil - fermented cod liver oil gel blend is considered superior in action to the plain fermented cod liver oil on its own. The taste is always a bit of a challenge, so Green Pastures created the caramel flavoured infused coconut oil blend of fermented cod liver oil, fermented skate liver oil, butter oil and coconut oil specifically with children in mind. The fishy taste is still there, but masked fairly considerably compared to the plain butter-oil, cod liver oil gel blend or the plain oils. Your raw chocolates idea is a good one, and perhaps this will be easier to incorporate in that too. I have used this product in smoothie blends, one would want to make it a small measured quantity for a child; you could add banana, a little Greek style yoghurt or kefir (I know you have said dairy-free, but sometimes the fermented products are good and well tolerated) otherwise almond milk, coconut milk or one of your preferred substitutes. I have masked mine further when necessary with cocoa or a sugar-free chocolate drink powder and sweetened as necessary with xylitol.
Sadly, Green Pasture discontinued the smaller size recently, so this is pretty much a family size and quite an investment. It is more cost effective in the long run though - as long as you use it of course.
I have an adult client who used the coconut/butter/cod liver oil blends for about two years and reported very good results for healing his cavities.

I think that you should be consulting a good dentist in your area to know more about this. Even I had to cavities and I had ignored those for a very long time so they just turned out to be much bigger. One of the teeth also needed root canal treatment that I have got from the trustworthy dentist Hermosa Beach. I think you should be very careful on early stage itself!

Yes, thanks for that comment - it's very pertinent.

As the wife of an excellent dentist, I'm all too aware of the need for dental assessment and appropriate treatment. This doesn't exclude diet and supplements to assist with prevention and remineralisation, however, and as the question was more of a product-related question, I assumed the cavities had been properly and professionally prediagnosed and treated.
